1926 Austin 12/4 Clifton Tourer
This 1926 Austin 12/4 Clifton Tourer is an excellent, correct example of this ever popular vintage tourer. Immortalised by the 'Gumdrop' stories by Val Biro, the 12/4 remains one of the most recognised motor cars of this period. In the previous ownership for 28 years, the car benefited from a 'body-off chassis restoration' in the late 1980s and has been carefully maintained and regularly used ever since. During restoration great attention was paid to ensuring that the car did not lose it's originality - the colour being a virtually exact match to the original and the replacement leather interior was again to the original design and colour. Dating from early 1926 the car has the correct CAV lighting and instrumentation. The weather equipment, which is in excellent order includes side-curtains, hood bag and rear tonneau. A period 'Stadium' fog lamp is fitted and the car retains its original Surrey registration number. One of the sweetest running 12/4s we have ever driven, it is offered with a current MOT certificate until March 2012, buff RF60 Log Book dating back to 1958 along with the original drivers handbook, spare parts list and spare parts price list. The car is fitted with the correct luggage carrier - essential for touring.
