1932 MG J2 Midget - all matching numbers
To many enthusiasts, the J2 is the definitive pre war MG. Small, lithe and purposeful, with its cutaway doors, the J2 really looked the part. In its day it represented remarkable value for money and was the weapon of choice for many in amateur motorsport events such as reliability trials and rallies.
Known to the MG Car Club Triple M Register for many years, this example is understood to be the earliest J2 on the road, being chassis number J2013 - the thirteenth off the production line.
Fully restored between 2000 - 2004, the car has been regularly used by the present owner and in almost daily use for the past few months. There are photos showing the restoration in progress and many bills etc. The engine was rebuilt with a Phoenix crankshaft and rods and leadfree cylinder head. The gearbox was also rebuilt at this time. The brakes have been converted to hydraulic operation with Morris Eight components, which makes a considerable difference and gives greater confidence. (The original parts will be included, however, when the car is sold) Many thousands of pounds have been spent maintaining the MG in reliable ‘go anywhere’ condition.
Driving very well, this charismatic MG has extensive paperwork with many prewar bills and correspondence from the MG Car Company.
More photos will be posted shortly!
