1935 Riley 12/4 Kestrel (22T Series)
Riley pioneered the "fastback" style with the introduction of the Kestrel in
1933 - this was to prove a highly successful, being the epitome of modernity and was to set a lasting trend. The 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder models, designated 22T series, appeared at the 1934 Motor Show and caused quite a sensation at a time when so many cars still had dated rather perpendicular style. The Kestrel was, without a doubt, one of the best looking sports saloons of the period and survivors are keenly sought nowadays.
First registered in March
1935 in Hertfordshire, this example remained in the hands of its original lady owner for many years and all subsequent history is recorded. The engine has recently undergone a rebuild which included high profile cams, h/c pistons, lightened flywheel and fitment of double valve springs. Performance can be described as 'extremely brisk'!
Sympathetically refurbished some years ago, this Kestrel is in very good all round order and has an excellent red leather interior. Comprehensive documentation including Buff Log Book dating back to 1947.
