1936 Riley 12/4 Adelphi
This 1936 Riley 12/4 Adelphi is a good sound example of this once prolific sporting saloon. It provides spacious accommodation for five comfortably - making it an ideal car for the enthusiast with a family. Finished in french grey with green leather interior, the front seats have been re-upholstered in matching leather in fairly recent times. The car has been known by the name of 'Agatha' for many years and a former owner was Godfrey Auty who was Chief Test Pilot for Bristol Aircraft. The preselector gear box operates smoothly and the car feels good and taut on the road. The overall appearance is very good, however, it would benefit from some minor cosmetic attention to the paintwork in a few areas. The Aldephi has become a fairly rare car as, sadly, many have fallen victim to special builders in last 20 years.
Great support is available through the Riley register with very good spares availability. The car is also eligible for the VSCC. Amongst the documentation are numerous bills, copies of previous V5s and a large quantity of MOT certificates. A current MOT certificate is provided, valid until October 2012 along with a copy of the Riley Maintenance Manual by S.
V. Haddleton.
