1966 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII Phase 2


The final development of the ‘Big Healey’, the Mklll, was launched in October 1963 and was to remain in available until production ceased late in 1967.

Designated ‘BJ8’ Series, this model featured a 150 bhp engine, which gave improved performance and a maximum speed of 125 mph

May 1964 was to see the Phase 2 version of this model which boasted improved ground clearance by virtue of a modified rear chassis – something that was much welcomed as the low slung exhaust system had always proved vulnerable previously.

Offered here is a very smart example, which was imported from the USA during 1990. According to the Heritage Certificate supplied, it was despatched from the Works on 11th October 1966 finished in British racing Green with black Ambla interior trim – the livery in which it is presented today.

During the 1990’s it was to undergo extensive restoration to a high standard and it has subsequently been carefully maintained and sparingly used, mostly on events and tours.

A substantial amount of documentation is provided which details maintenance etc and general expenditure on the car. A mint condition copy of the original Driver’s Handbook is also included.
