Belsize Motors was founded in 1897, and, like many automobile manufacturers, they had their roots in cycle manufacture. The Belsize name was adopted in 1901 and within a few years they were producing a range of commercial vehicles. Car production included two and four seat tourers, Landaulette, coupe, all with high quality coachwork by the many coach builders of the time.
Following the Great War, a new model was to make its debut, this being the 15hp. This example offered is in fact believed unique, being the first post - war prototype 15/20 which was  to be the staple model when full production got under way in 1920.
Powered by a 2.9 litre four cylinder engine, the specification included a four speed gearbox and an electric starter was listed as an option. The four seat tourer was listed at £595.
Registered to its first owner, a Mr Harry Saunders, bearing the registration number CL 450, the car resided in Norfolk with several further owners  until 1955 when it was acquired by Whitaker Chocolatiers of Skipton and painted brown, being used for advertising and promotion purposes.
The car has since been restored to its original livery of green with brown buttoned hide interior and the hood and side curtains have been renewed in double duck material.
In the past few years much has been spent to keep the car in good order and it is of delightful appearance, with a plethora of brass fittings.
A rare and extremely interesting motor car, it has considerable character and charm.
