1923 Austin 12/4 two seat Tourer with dickey - Coachwork by Mulliner

Probably one of the most widely  recognised of Vintage motor cars, due in no small part to the 'Gumdrop' stories for children by Val Biro, the Austin Twelve Four has survived in good numbers by virtue of its sound design and sturdy construction.

This particular 95 year old example is a rarity, being reputed to be the earliest two seat model in existence. With its original  coachwork by Mulliner of Birmingham, the car retains all the early features of the first 12/4 models, including 12 spoke wooden artillery wheels with beaded edge tyres, 4' track, with steering box outside the chassis, 2 wheel brakes, correct CAV lighting and the original short stroke engine.

Understood to have been built at the beginning of 1923 with components stamped 1922, the chassis left Longbridge to go to Mulliner on 26th January 1923.

The car is said to have been restored in the 1970s and by 1990 it resided on Guernsey.

Running very well, it exudes a delightful charm and patina. The correct Driver's Handbook and Spare Parts List are supplied along with many bills etc.

A rare opportunity indeed!
