A charming, characterful Vintage Tourer in excellent all round condition.
A. Harper Sons & Bean of Dudley were major suppliers of components to the motor industry, with over half of British manufacturers using their products.
They were to acquire the pre Great War Perry car from Willis Overland and modified the design, re-marketing it as the Bean 11.9 from 1919. Production increased rapidly and the 11.9 evolved into the Twelve, powered by a 1.8 litre engine which was to prove extremely reliable and, along with the Fourteen model, which appeared in 1924, was to make Bean cars a popular choice in the Colonies where rugged construction and reliably were paramount.
Looking very smart in its livery of fawn and black, with maroon leather upholstery, the motor car offered here is a Twelve Tourer, first registered in Staffordshire on 18th March 1926. The history from new is recorded and the car would seem to have covered less than 55,000 miles in total, having spent almost 40 years laid up.
Restoration has been carried out over a period of time and most recently in excess of £10,000 has been spent, with work including a clutch overhaul and dynamo refurbishment.
Whilst in the present ownership the car has taken part in a number of Vintage car rallies and runs, just recently winning an award on the Bean Car Club National Daffodil Run.
Documentation supplied includes an RF 60 buff logbook, lists of work carried out and numerous bills. Also included is the original Owner's Handbook, a garage lubrication chart, along with a spare cylinder head gasket.
