1928 Alvis 12/50 TG Shooting Brake - NOW SOLD
For many years, the Alvis 12/50 has been one of the cornerstones of the Vintage car world. Easy to live with, a good spare parts supply and excellent club support have endeared the 12/50 to many enthusiasts over the years.
Offered here is a somewhat unusual variant. Originally fitted with Cross & Ellis tourer coachwork, the car was to undergo conversion by coachbuilders Thorn Bodies in the mid 1930s, to a shooting brake. The owner was master of the Shropshire Hunt, so this vehicle was very well known in the County at the time.
The Alvis was eventually purchased from the original owner in 1971 by a well-known Alvis aficionado, who undertook a comprehensive restoration and subsequently used the car for business, touring and camping holidays. Several years ago it was shown at The Louis Vuitton Classic, at The Hurlingham Club and the programme for this event is supplied with the documentation. The car has had one owner since, making a total of just three custodians in eighty seven years.
Ideal for attending a variety of events, or as a splendid period VSCC race support vehicle, this charming and characterful Vintage Alvis creates enormous interest wherever it goes.
