1928 Austin 12/4 Clifton Tourer
Following its introduction in 1921, the Austin 12/4 became the byword for reliability and was to prove immensely popular. The Clifton Tourer is a model which has achieved great fame, not least through the 'Gumdrop' stories by Val Biro. It is amongst the most recognisable and revered motor cars of the Vintage period.
Correctly finished in maroon with recently renewed button hide upholstery, this Clifton is one of the later 5T series cars with the wider body, being a comfortable five seater. This particular car is one of the last to feature the rounded doors and charming carriage loop handles. Restored over a number of years work has included engine rebuild, body refurbishment and trimming.
The sidescreens have recently been renewed and the hood is good and serviceable. Complete with tonneau covers and luggage carrier this is a very good example of a well loved and enjoyed motor car. Flashing indicators have been fitted for safety in modern traffic conditions and the car drives extremely well as a good 12/4 should. Documentation include a green log book dating back to 1967 attesting to the original Bradford registration number.
