1929 Austin 16/6 Burnham Saloon – very original and correct

Introduced in late 1927 as the Sixteen Light Six, this new model was to effectively bridge the gap between the well-established 12/4 and the top of the range 20 hp models.

Powered by a 2¼ litre engine with a seven-bearing crankshaft, the Sixteen was extremely smooth running with great flexibility.

The model range included the Burnham and Iver Saloons as well as two and four seat tourers.

First registered in January 1929 this example of the Burnham Saloon has been known to us for a number of years and we have known the last two owners having supplied this car some ten years ago.

Sympathetically restored and carefully maintained since this is a very original and correct car.  There are records of mileage covered dating back over many years plus photographs showing the car as discovered as a barn find plus copies of photographs taken on the Col de Galibier in 1957 and the following year at the top of Petit St Bernard.  Records of maintenance dating back for the last 23 year are also supplied together with a copy of the original handbook and a green VE60 log book dating back to 1971.

This Austin 16/6 retains almost all the original features and runs exceptionally well.  The leather interior has fared remarkably well over the years and still exudes an aura of quality and authenticity.

A delightful vintage saloon, spacious, comfortable and renowned for Austin dependability.
