1930 Austin 16/6 Burnham - Now Sold
Introduced in late 1927, the ‘Sixteen Light Six’, to use Austin’s parlance, was to effectively bridge the gap between the well – established Twelve-Four and the top of the range Twenty.
Powered by a 2 ¼ litre engine with a seven bearing crankshaft, the Sixteen was extremely smooth running with great flexibility. The model range included the ‘Burnham’ and ‘Iver’ saloons, as well as two and four seat Tourers.
Of 1930 manufacture, this ‘Burnham’ is in excellent condition throughout.
This car has been known to me since the late 1970’s, when it was owned for a while by the then spares secretary of the Vintage Austin Register. Over the years, the car has been extremely well cared for, with a repaint undertaken some time ago and has also benefited from an engine rebuild.
Maintenance has been carried out regularly whilst in the previous ownership of around 14 years. It has formed part of a collection and been used sparingly in good weather.
The car retains all its original features including the blue leather upholstery and presents particularly well. Numerous receipts are supplied, along with the original Driver’s Handbook and Spare Parts List. The original buff log book is also included and the car retains the original distinctive Surrey Registration number.
In summary, a delightful Vintage Austin which is certain to provide much pleasure to its next custodian.
