1930 Lagonda 2 Litre Tourer

Lagonda was founded in Staines in Surrey during 1906, originally producing motorcycles. the Company became well known for producig quality light cars with an advanced 11.1 hp model being introduced in 1913. An updated 11.9 hp model was to follow, however, by the mid- 1920’s, with the debut of the 2 litre 14/60 model, Lagonda was to concentrate on high quality sporting motor cars which were to achieve numerous successes in competition and gained a loyal following amongst enthusiastic motorists.

The 2 Litre Lagonda featured a 1954cc four cylinder engine with hemispherical combustion chambers, designed by Arthur Davidson, formerly of Lea Francis Cars.

Today, as with all Lagonda models, the 2 Litre is highly regarded and enjoys a good survival record.

Offered here is a 2 Litre Tourer, which has been in a private collection. It was extensively restored over a number of years, with a considerable sum being invested. Work has included an engine rebuild by well known specialists, together with replacement of the body frame and new fabric covering and interior retrimming in red hide. The work is substantiated by a vast number of invoices on file.

The car enjoyed a brief competition career, racing a part of ‘Team 2 Litre’ beginning in 2003, competing at Donnington, Outlon Park, Snetterton and Silverstone. It was usually driven to and from the circuits. It has also been used on Continental trips, proving extremely reliable.

During the last couple of years however, the car has seen little use and is now offered for sale due to the owner seeking to reduce his extensive stable of motor cars.

In very good order overall, this Lagonda is eagerly awaiting a new appreciative owner. There is a current MOT certificate valid until August 2020.

An original Lagonda Instruction Book is supplied, plus much additional information.
