1931 Alvis 12/50 TJ
First appearing in 1923, the Alvis 12/50 was to prove extremely successful and today is one of the most highly regarded cars of the Vintage period. The combination of sound engineering, reliability and excellent handling have ensured their enduring appeal.
This particular car, a TJ series, featuring the twin carburettor engine, was despatched from the Works on 29th May with four seater tourer coachwork. It has a well documented history, which shows all previous owners and also that the car was restored and rebodied by Wilkinsons some years ago with authentic ‘Beetleback’ coachwork. It was to spend a number of years in the USA before returning to Britain in 1996.
A highly useable Vintage motor car, it has been fitted with overdrive, alternator and upgraded lamps with flashing indicators making for safer motoring in today’s traffic. A major mechanical overhaul included the engine being rebuilt by a respected specialist.
The car is of most pleasing appearance in its livery of maroon and black, with maroon leather upholstery. There is a very good hood and tonneau cover.
