1931 Humber 16/50 Saloon - Now Sold
Making its debut in 1929, the Humber 16/50 was to be the replacement for the ageing 14/40 that had proved so successful. The new model was powered by a 7 bearing engine, with the well established inlet-over-exhaust valve configuration that had been used by Humber since 1922.
With furnishings and fittings all to a very high standard, the 16/50 was available as a handsome ‘D’ backed saloon with sunshine roof and also as a 5 seater Tourer.
This example of the 16/50 saloon was manufactured early in 1931 and first registered on 25th March. It would appear to have been sympathetically refurbished several years ago and work included a rebore, top end overhaul, new pistons, and exhaust valves. The dynamo was also rebuilt and fuel pump overhauled. The bulkhead was rebuilt with new timber and re-skinned in aluminium. Much replating was carried out to the brightwork and the front wings were restored, with new metal as required.
Additional work included re-trimming with new hide, replacement carpets and headlining, plus much more.
The car has only been sparingly used in recent times and remains in good order all round.
Documentation comprises a list of work previously undertaken, plus V5C registration document and a copy of a period advertisement for the model.
