1932 Alvis 12/60 TL Tourer
The Alvis 12/50 and 12/60 models have always enjoyed a large and loyal following by devotees of the red triangle. Well engineered and of straightforward design, they are one of the easiest Vintage cars to live with, benefiting from enthusiastic club support and good spares availability.
Ordered by its first owner in November 1931, this 12/60 TL was the only Alvis to be fitted with sporting tourer coachwork by Batley Coachworks of Newcastle. It was first registered and delivered on 11th March 1932. The car has had just 4 owners since new, with the third acquiring the car in 1963 and retaining it for 47 years. During this time he carried out an extensive restoration, which was completed in 1993, as the car had spent many years off the road.
During more recent times it has attended a number of Rallies and Alvis club events, winning a few awards along the way.
It is offered with complete history of ownership and a number of photos taken in the 1940’s. There is also a copy of the original chassis build specification sheet, along with much additional paperwork, including a buff logbook dating back to 1956.
All five tyres are new Firestone replacements and full weather equipment is supplied, including a rear Auster screen. The car has the benefit of a small
lockable luggage boot and there is ample space under the bonnet for tool storage etc.
The car is in good mechanical fettle in all respects, having just been serviced and fitted with new piston rings.
