1934 Wolseley Hornet Special EW Daytona
The subject of an exacting restoration to a very high standard some years ago, this Hornet Special has Eustace Watkins Daytona coachwork. Since the restoration additional work included a full engine rebuild, completed in April 2013 by Cox & Turner with minimal mileage having been covered since.
Strikingly finished in red with black leather seats piped in red, this is a most attractive example of this appealing model.
Numerous styles of coachwork were available on the Hornet Special chassis the EW Daytona being one of the most purposeful in appearance.
The 1934 version of the Hornet Special underwent a number of significant improvements, including a new cruciform chassis of stronger design, underslung at the rear giving a lower centre of gravity, while the steering was redesigned and a freewheel system was fitted. The overhead camshaft 6 cylinder engine is extremely sweet running and delivers a delightful soundtrack.
Included with the documentation is a duplicate RF60 log book dating back to 1959. The car retains its original registration number and numerous bills and photographs of the restoration are included.
