1936 Austin 7 AEB65 Nippy – BRM 263

The last of the Austin 7 Sports models, the Nippy, introduced in 1934, followed on from the Type ‘65’ EB Series which had appeared the previous year. Whereas the earlier car had aluminium bodywork, the Nippy was to use a stronger steel body. Although the splash fed crank type engine was fitted to this model originally, the pressure fed sports engine could be specified if required at extra cost from February 1936 until production ceased early in 1937.

This Nippy was apparently fitted with an experimental independent front suspension set up in the 1950’s. First registered in Cumbria and retaining her distinctive registration number she now has the correct close ratio sports gear box and other genuine nippy parts that were missing when we first acquired her.  The fold flat windscreen is a rare period extra.

Last year the engine was rebuilt with a Phoenix crankshaft, slipper type pistons with Honda rings, and high lift camshaft.  Electrics have been converted to 12volts.

Still running in – only around 400 miles have been covered since completion.

Ready to enjoy – this car has been part of our own collection for the last 5 years and has been cossetted.

There is a new double duck hood, tonneau cover and hood bag.
