1937 MG TA - The replacement for the PB Midget came in the form of the new TA in 1936. An evolution of the previous model it was some 3 inches wider in its track and the wheel base was increased by 7 inches giving an improved ride and more room in the cockpit.
The enginge was now a push-rod unit, of Wolseley 10 origin fitted with twin SU carburettors and displacing 1.3 litres. 50 bhp output gave improved performance with a top speed approaching 80 mph. Priced at £222 the TA represented very good value and some 3003 had been built by the time production ceased and the car was replaced by the TB in 1939.
Although the pre-war history of this car is not known, we are told that an American serviceman owned it around the end of the Second World War and the car returned to America with him. At a later date he moved to the French Riviera taking the car with him. Restoration was undertaken whilst the car was in France and the car returned to the UK in 2013.
Finished in red with beige interior trim the car is smartly presented and has a rear luggage rack and the acknowledged VW steering box modification.
Just recently the car underwent all the brake cylinders refurbished and new linings fitted along with rear hub bearings and seals.
The car is now offered for sale as the previous has just purchased a four seat MG from us to accommodate his grandchildren.
Various bills are provided along with a servicing sheet.
