1937 Riley Kestrel Sprite ( ‘38 model)

A truly striking streamlined design, the Riley Kestrel was a sensation when first introduced and still looked modern many years later.

The high performance ‘Sprite’ engine was offered as an option for 1936/7 on the Lynx and Kestrel and these models have always been keenly sought by Riley enthusiasts.

* Well known in Riley circles (ex Dr Tony Birmingham)

* This car is one of the very last of this revered sporting model

* It is in extremely original condition in all respects.

For many years the car was in the hands of Dr A T Birmingham who wrote the definitive book on Riley 'The production and competition history of the pre-1939 Riley motor cars'.

This Riley Kestrel Sprite remains in quite remarkably original condition having been maintained over the years rather than undergoing major restoration.  It is in fact, looking just as it was when I first saw it at a Riley Register Coventry rally back in the 1960s.

On a recent test drive the car drove very well with plenty of ‘urge’ as a expected from this sporting saloon.

Rarely do such well preserved and largely original Rileys come to market so this represents a special opportunity for a connoisseur of the marque.  This Kestrel Sprite is one of the very last models produced and in over 50 years involvement with Rileys I have not seen another Kestrel Sprite with the 1938 features of slatted radiator grille and non-louvered bonnet.
