In 1937, the new 'P2' range appeared with many improvements, including a stiffer chassis and more powerful Girling mechanical braking replacing the hydraulic system used on the previous series.

The 12 hp models were to prove very popular and in 4 light Sports Saloon guise they had considerable appeal, being extremely well equipped and very capable.

This example is undoubtedly one of the best survivors and being a 1940 model, it benefits from synchromesh on third and top gears, improved cylinder head, revised instrumentation and a number of additional modifications. As private car production gradually ceased in 1940, just 205 of this model were built that year out of a total of only 3112 Rover cars of all types. This car is, in fact, the 40th from last of its type.

In exceptional condition in every department, this Rover Sports Saloon will surely appeal to a discerning enthusiast or connoisseur. The paintwork is virtually faultless and the original deep red leather interior trim would indicate very careful use in the last 77 years.

The recorded mileage, currently standing at around 80,000, is, we feel, quite likely to be correct.

A quality post Vintage thoroughbred, this car retains all its original features, including the registration number.
