1946 Rover 14 Sports Saloon
Supplied new by Mann Egerton of Norwich to a Mr. M. Williamson on 17th October 1946, this Rover was to remain in the care of its first owner for 43 years. There have only been three subsequent owners who have clearly lavished considerable care and expenditure on the car and it is a great credit to them that this is without doubt one of the best examples of the Fourteen Sports Saloon in existence.
Presented in grey with blue hide interior and sitting on wire wheels, the car exudes an aura of quality, from the days when the company’s slogan was ‘Rover - One of Britain’s Fine cars’.
The Sports Saloon boasted a roofline some four inches lower than the six light saloon and was of purposeful appearance with its long bonnet and elegant styling of the four-light coachwork.
Capable of good performance making it eminently useable in today’s traffic, the Rover is extremely comfortable and most pleasing to drive with ample power from the 6-cylinder engine. The sunshine roof and opening windscreen are welcome items on warm Summer days, ideal on longer distance tours and events.
Flashing indicators have been fitted, as has a high-level brake light, ensuring added safety.
The P2 Series Rovers were the last of the pre-war styled models and ran from 1938 - 1948.
Details of previous ownership and included, together with the original Driver’s Handbook and a mint copy of the Rover booklet detailing all model specifications. There is also a considerable file of bills and additional information. The original toolkit is also supplied.
A motor car that is sure to appeal to a connoisseur.
