1949 Triumph 2000 Roadster
Always an impressive looking motor car, the Triumph Roadster can claim to be the last production car to be fitted with a dickey seat – a throwback to the 1930’s. Production of the original 1800 model began in 1946 and halfway through 1948, the Roadster was to gain the 2.1 litre power unit and gearbox from the Standard Vanguard. This ensured an increase in performance, giving a top speed of 80 mph with improved acceleration. Offered here is a 1949 2000 Roadster that spent some 32 years in previous ownership. Sympathetically restored some years ago, it remains very
presentable, although there are some paintwork defects, mostly to the front wings. However, this does not detract from what is a very good and highly
useable example – The engine was rebuilt and upgraded with the twin SU carburettor setup of the TR2 and a four-speed gearbox conversion with floor
change enhances the driving experience considerably, while the stainless-steel exhaust system gives a pleasant sporting note. Radial tyres are
fitted, which assists the handling considerably. The hood is well- fitting and weatherproof.
To summarise, a very good, sound example of this charismatic Triumph that has much appeal. It is well known to the Triumph Roadster Club and has
participated in many of their events and won various awards in the past.
