1950 MG TD - original RHD - One of the very best available!
£26,950
By 1949, the MG TC was looking very dated, with its mid-1930’s styling and character. It’s successor was to come the following year with a far more advanced specification which included rack and pinion steering and independent front suspension, borrowed from the contemporary MG ‘Y’ Series saloon. 15” disc wheels completed the modern appearance, giving a low, purposeful stance.
This new model quickly won many friends, with the bulk of production going to the lucrative North American market.
The TD also proved highly popular in competition, giving many enthusiasts their first taste of motor sport and many special tuning extras were available. In total, just under 30,000 TD models were built with production running until 1953 before the TF superseded it.
A 1950 example, this particular TD originally resided in Johannesburg. It underwent a ground up restoration which was completed around nine years ago and just over 3000 miles have been covered subsequently. Photos of the rebuild in progress are included.
The car is presented in exceptional order throughout ,driving faultlessly, having been fastidiously maintained. The fitment of a five speed gearbox makes for more relaxed cruising on longer journeys. In all, this is a delightful example of this highly popular model that is sure to bring much pleasure to its new owner.
