1951 Bentley MkVl Special
£59,950
Making its first appearance in 1946 Bentley MkVl was fitted with pressed steel coachwork, athough it was still available in chassis form to be clothed by independent coach builders. As time and the dreaded rust took its toll on the standard steel coachwork a number of MkVl Bentleys were to see a new life, being recreated as sporting specials.
Various companies were to produce coachwork including Harry Rose. Harry was a stalwart of the Bentley Drivers Club and was the proud owner of a 4 1/2 litre team car which he campaigned regularly.. He realised that there were a number of Bentley enthusiasts who were unable to afford the acquisition of the WO models and as MkVls were comparitively plentiful and many were in need of extensive body work repair - the alternative was to produce a sporting body on what was of course an excellent chassis and running gear.
This striking blue Bentley MkVl Special is built on a standard length 1951 chassis, sitting on 16" wire wheels and fitted with overdrive which makes for effortless touring at higher speeds.
The car benefits from superb leather reclining seats and is fully trimmed, incuding a hood an tonneau cover. A stainless steel luggage rack and spare wheel carrier make for a very attactive sporting motor car.
This car was rebuilt over a number of years from the bare chassis, which is substantiated by a great many photographs and bills etc. All work has been completed to a very high standard.
Much additional work has been recently carried out by a respected engineer who is highly experienced with Bentley and Lagonda motor cars.
