1953 Riley 2 ½ Litre ‘RMF’
When the Riley ‘RM’ Series appeared in 1945 it was met with great enthusiasm – here was an elegant sporting saloon with up to the minute features such as independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering, which remained true to the Riley ethos of old.
Available in 1 ½ and 2 ½ Litre versions, these cars were the choice of the connoisseur in their day. The 100 bhp 2 ½ model was highly praised by the motoring press for its fine handling and performance - the top speed being within a whisker of the then-magic 100 mph.
This Riley RMF dates from 1953, which was the final year of production. Understood to have had just five owners it previously formed part of a collection and has clearly undergone much refurbishment.
The roof has been recovered correctly and the carpets replaced. Whilst the red leather seats remain in very good original condition. The recorded mileage is believed to be correct standing at approximately 65,000 miles. The carburettors were overhauled recently and the car runs very smoothly.
Sitting on period correct Michelin X Tyres, the overall appearance is extremely good with excellent panel gaps and brightwork.
A very capable and comfortable sporting saloon.
