1955 MG Magnette ZA - Now Sold
Making its debut at the 1953 Motor Show, with deliveries commencing the following Spring, the ZA Series Magnette was the replacement for the ageing YB model
Featuring unitary construction for the first time in an MG saloon, the new Magnette was a most handsome motor car, with its slightly Italian inspired styling from the pen of Gerald Palmer. Powered by a tuned BMC 'B' Series engine developing 60 bhp, the ZA was capable of over 80 mph and allied to brisk acceleration and very good road holding, it was to prove very popular
with enthusiastic motorists who required a family car with sporting aspirations.
The example we offer here was first registered in November 1955. A very genuine and correct car, it retains all its original equipment and has the benefit of being fitted with wire wheels, which particularly suit it. The interior trim, in light tan leather, remains in extremely good condition, which leads us to believe that the car has not covered a large mileage or been abused in any way. There is correspondence relating to a speedometer change that leads us to believe the mileage may be less than 46,000.
Extensively restored some years ago, it has been very carefully maintained and only around 600 miles have been covered since the engine was rebuilt. An alternator had been fitted - a sensible modification.
Driving faultlessly and being of excellent appearance, this Magnette has a very large amount of documentation including the original Workshop Manual and Driver's Handbook.
