1961 MGA 1600 Mkll

Midway through 1961 the MGA underwent several revisions which included the fitment of a larger 1622cc engine, and higher rear axle ratio.  Other visual details were the restyled tail lamps, inset radiator grille and vinyl covered dash board.  In this guise the MGA continued production until June 1962 when the MGB was introduced.

One of the final series of MGAs, this fine-looking Old English White example of the 1600 Mkll was originally an export model and was repatriated from the USA in 1991.

Over the following couple of years, the car underwent a complete professional ‘nut and bolt’ bare chassis rebuild to concours standard including conversion to right-hand drive (with photographic evidence supplied).  More recently additional work including; cylinder head converted for unleaded fuel, stainless steel exhaust system, replacement wire wheels and spinners, stainless steel boot rack, fitment of an alternator and much more.

Although it is now some 25 years or so since the completion of the initial restoration, she presents in excellent order and drives particularly well having been fitted with a five-speed gear box making for more relaxed cruising at motorway speeds.

History file includes the correct original driver’s handbook, numerous bills showing considerable sums to have been spent and the aforementioned photographs showing the restoration in progress.

The black hood and side screens are in very good order and there is also a tonneau cover.
