1962 Jaguar 3.8 Mk2 - NOW SOLD
One of the most iconic cars of the 1960’s, the Jaguar Mk 2 offered everything the manufacturer’s slogan ‘Grace, Space, Pace’ promised. Three variants were available – 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 Litres. The latter was a formidable machine, being capable of 125 mph and able to accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in just 8.5 seconds. With performance of this calibre, allied to remarkable value for money, it is easy to understand the enthusiastic following the Mark 2 has always enjoyed.
On offer here is a remarkably original 3.8 model. With the favoured manual/overdrive transmission, this car has clearly been lovingly cared for and appears to have had just four owners, remaining in the hands of one keeper for a considerable number of years. With the exception of a repaint, it remains essentially as it left the works some 53 years ago. Extensive mechanical work has been undertaken recently and considerable documentation to support this is provided.
Supplied new by renowned Jaguar agents, Coombs of Guildford, the car has the original folder which includes the Service Booklet, Driver’s Handbook and list of Jaguar sales and Service facilities in the UK.
A Jaguar Heritage Certificate is also supplied, showing the car to have been manufactured on 5th January 1962 and dispatched to Coombs & Sons Ltd, Guildford, the following month. The original buff RF60 logbook is also included, along with the Manufacturer’s Warranty.
Looking back through previous MOT certificates, it would seem that this Jaguar has seen very sparing use in recent times and is certainly one of most unmolested examples we have seen for some while.
