1963 Austin-Healey Sebring Sprite Evocation
We are delighted to offer this superbly constructed John Sprinzel Sebring Sprite evocation. Built to the highest standard on a 1963 Austin-Healey Sprite base, the car has a full Sebring conversion body kit by the famed Archers Garage and is an accurate replica of this iconic competition car.
The Sprinzel Sebring Sprite Coupe made its debut at the London Racing Car Show in 1961, and whilst only six examples were built, two of these were raced at Sebring that year by Stirling and Pat Moss. The other examples were to be rallied and raced with much success.
During the period a number of body variants of the Sprite were produced, but none were so revered and aesthetically pleasing as Sprinzel’s design.
This Sebring evocation is probably the best currently available and is presented in immaculate order throughout. Powered by a 1275cc ‘fast road’ spec engine breathing through a 40DCOE Weber carb, all running gear has been overhauled or replaced, including front springs and the fitment of a Panhard rod by Frontline Engineering to the rear. A number of Spares (including engine block) are included in the sale.
The intention was to use the car for road use and occasional sprints, track days and hill climbs - it has in fact taken part in Firle hill climb and a couple of track days at Goodwood. It is properly sorted and has covered only around 2000 miles since completion and the car is only now available due to the owners advancing years.
A well compiled history file is provided, as is a technical information file and vast number of receipts from March 2015, when the car was purchased from ADW Automotive of Worcestershire.
A joy to drive and attracting considerable interest wherever it is seen, this is a very rare opportunity to purchase such a unique motor car.
