1966 MGB Roadster – Exceptional Older Restoration - Overdrive

One of the most correct and genuine MGB Roadsters we have had for some while.

At its introduction in 1962, the MGB was eagerly received on both sides of the Atlantic. By the time production ceased in 1980, well over half a million examples had been built.

Today, the MGB remains as popular as ever, benefiting from excellent spare parts availability and the support of both the MG Car Club and MG Owners’ Club.

Offered here is a particularly pleasing 1966 example. According to its Heritage Certificate, the car was despatched in late August 1965 and first registered on 1 January 1966.

The MGB appears to have undergone an extensive restoration around 2002 and, some 24 years later, has stood up remarkably well — testament to the care that has clearly been lavished upon it ever since.

Correctly finished in Tartan Red with black leather trim and red piping, the car retains its original specification engine and is equipped with overdrive. Although the Heritage Certificate records that it was originally supplied with disc wheels, it had already been converted to wire wheels prior to the restoration.

Further equipment includes a luggage rack and a pair of attractive, period-correct long-range lamps. The hood is in excellent condition and a full tonneau cover is also included.

A substantial history file accompanies the car, containing a large quantity of paperwork and invoices which demonstrate the considerable time and expenditure devoted to it over the years.

Importantly, the underside also presents very well. Oil leakage is minimal, with only a few drops evident after the car had been standing for a week.

The car has a current MOT certificate valid until 29 July 2027.

A very genuine, well-presented and correctly detailed MGB Roadster which has clearly been cherished since its restoration.
