1968 Triumph Vitesse Convertible
£11,995
Launched to considerable acclaim in May 1962, the Vitesse was effectively a six cylinder version of the already popular Triumph Herald.
The last of a once popular genre of motor cars - the ‘light six’ which had proved successful during the 1930s, the Vitesse offered vivid performance allied to very good fuel economy due to its weight of just 17 cwt and the convertible became highly sought after by those who had previously owned sporting two seaters, but now required a family car.
This delightful white example has been the subject of major restoration over the past few years. In addition to an extensive body rebuild, work has, in the last couple of years included removal of the engine and gearbox with timing chain and oil seals replaced, new seals in the gearbox and overdrive filter cleaned, along with a new clutch.
The bulkhead was stripped and repainted, new new brake master cylinders and servo fitted. The front suspension was stripped and painted and fitted with new bushes and joints as required. The springs and shock absorbers were also renewed and the chassis rails and underside painted. A new hood has also been fitted.
A joy to drive with that purposeful and distinctive 6 cylinder exhaust note!
In all, this Vitesse is extremely smart and in first class order and ready to enjoy in the coming Summer.
