Brooklands Double-Twelve 15th & 16th June 2019
What a fabulous spectacle this year’s Brooklands Double-Twelve Motorsport Festival proved to be. Organised in association with the VSCC the atmosphere in the paddock and surrounding areas was electric! So many interesting and historic cars and some of the rarest. It is just so special to be allowed to be so near the cars and meet their fascinating drivers. We were also able to keep warm and dry with a great view up on the top floor of Mercedes World – where we had a brilliant view of the track.
The convivial and relaxed atmosphere that Brooklands creates is so unique – it was great for us to catch up with old friends. We were, of course there to specifically support and see the Ex-Works 1935 Riley TT Sprite – AVC 19 – participate. Driven by Tim Brown – we think you will agree that the action shots below really do show her in all her glory. Most of these shots are from our iphone photos but there are also photos @robertclayson and @paulhitchens. There was much interest shown in this magnificent car and quite rightly so – she has got to be seen to be really appreciated.
It was a rare sight indeed to not only see AVC 19 on the track – but also to watch Dianne Weeks driving her 1934 Riley Ulster Imp with brio around the track. Two historic Riley’s side by side – what a treat.
One of our key strategies as a business is to actively encourage more women to drive and enjoy the pleasures of Vintage & Classic Cars. So many already do – but to others it can appear somewhat daunting.
We were fortunate to not only see Di in action but also met with delightful pilot and VSCC driver, Emma Carter in her Riley Nine.
We caught up with Julian Grimwade in his extremely fast 1934 Frazer Nash Single Seater and Michelle was fascinated by the chain drives!
Here are just a few photos of the day – hope you enjoy them.
